NEWRY – Cynthia Ellen (Cabral) Beatson, 43, of Bethel died in Newry on Sept. 4.

She was born in Boston, Mass. on May 29, 1963, the beloved daughter of Bernard J. and Dorothy (Barry) Cabral. Cindy was educated in Sudbury, Mass. and later at the Fashion School of Design in Boston and Babson College in Wellesley, Mass. She moved to Maine in 1992, where she met her husband Douglas while both were working at Sunday River Ski Resort. They were married on March 26, 1994 in Andover. Their beautiful daughter, Carlee, was born July 14, 1994, and Bethel became their home.

Over the years, she worked as a successful and respected manager and waitress at several Sunday River restaurants and the Bethel Inn Resort. Recently she went back to school for her real estate license and had started an exciting career that she loved as an agent with Apple Tree Realty in Bethel.

Over the years, she was also self-employed as a seamstress, and with her extraordinary sense of style and design her work was in constant demand. She made everything from bathing suits to draperies, but her Halloween costumes for her daughter, Carlee were some of her (and the townspeople’s) favorite.

She was an outgoing and loving person who lit up a room when she entered. She was always active skiing, hiking, golfing and swimming. She loved people and will always be remembered for her remarkable energy, love of life and the good times she shared with family and friends. She will also be fondly remembered for her ability to ‘make fun’ and her willingness to always lend a helping hand.

She is survived by her husband, Douglas and daughter, Carlee of Bethel; her mother, Dorothy (Barry) Cabral of Sudbury, Mass.; a brother, Charles Cabral and his wife, Maggie and their children Joe, Matt and Casey, all of Northboro, Mass.; as well as, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was predeceased by her father, Bernard Joseph Cabral.
