AUBURN – Avonne R. Clark, 81, a resident of Minot, passed away peacefully Thursday at the Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice after a courageous battle with breast cancer.
She was born in Albion, on May 22, 1925, a daughter of Charles and Annie (Alexander) Rowe. She graduated from Besse High School in Albion, and married her high school sweetheart, Frederick L. Clark on May 21, 1943.
She was a homemaker, bookkeeper for the family-owned business, Clark Lumber & Hardware in Windham, and later enjoyed her work at the office of the Sebago Basin Campground. She was a member of the Rebekah and Grange while in Albion, the P.T.A., Yo-Mos (Young Mothers), UCT, Land O’ Lakes Garden Club and a Girl Scout leader.
She loved camping with family and friends, gardening and flower arranging, enjoyed fishing and hunting (especially the outdoor tailgate breakfasts), spending time with family and traveling to Florida. She also was a great cook and baker, loved her animals, and was a Nascar fan.
Survivors include three daughters, June Labbe of Lewiston, Ellen (Reggie) Pratt of Minot and Kathy (Michel) Pratte of Minot; one son, Richard (Deborah) Clark of Buckfield; 11 grandchildren, Fred and Maureen Labbe, Kelly (Clark) McQuarrie, Edith (Clark) Blyberg, David Clark, Jonathan, Ben and Joshua Pratt, Aubrey (Pratte) Russell, Elaine and Brianna Pratte; 14 great-grandchildren; three sisters of Albion, Meta Fowler, Priscilla Drake and her husband, Freeland and Virginia Bradstreet.
She was predeceased by her husband on March 23, 1995; and two brothers, Edward and Stephen Rowe.
The family would like to extend sincere thanks to the staff at Androscoggin Home Health Care and the Hospice House for their wonderful care and compassion.
