Recognition Day

JAY – A Prisoner of War-Missing in Action National Recognition Day program will be held at 6:20 p.m. Friday, Sept. 15, at the POW-MIA Remembrance Bridge Monument of All Wars, intersection of Route 4 and Riley Road.

Church program

NEW VINEYARD – Al Hewey and the worship group Sequel, will visit Mountain View Bible Church at 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 17. The group will bring a blend of gospel music and hymns. All are invited. There is no admission fee, but a love offering will be taken to help the group. For more information, call 684-3252.

Crime watch

JAY – The Jay Citizen’s Neighborhood Watch meeting will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 19, at the Community Building on Tiger Drive. All Jay residents interested in joining the neighborhood watch are welcome.

Members will discuss what a neighborhood watch group is and how police and residents can work together to benefit the community. They will discuss how to protect property and ways to stay safe and discuss the services police and dispatch provide.

Society visit

NEW VINEYARD – New Vineyard Historical Society will meet at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 20, at the Historical Room then they will motor to Freeman to view the Elizabeth Dyar Memorial. Those participating should bring a picnic lunch. This will be the final meeting of this year. Meetings will resume in March of 2007.
