NEW YORK (AP) – Six people were gunned down in a spate of shootings early Saturday, including one man police shot to death after he tried to flee from pursuing officers.

Police said they chased and shot an 18-year-old man in east Harlem about 12:45 a.m. after getting a call about an armed gunman. The unidentified man, shot once in the upper body, was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital, police said.

Police said they found a, .25-caliber handgun at the scene.

In a separate incident in the Bronx, three men were shot about 1:30 a.m. Police said an 18-year-old man was hospitalized in critical condition. A 21-year-old man and another man were in stable condition, police said.

About 30 minutes later, police found a 14-year-old boy shot in the leg and 16-year-old boy with a gunshot wound to the face in front of a Bronx residence. Both of the victims were taken to the hospital and remained in stable condition.

The victims weren’t identified and no arrests were made. All three shootings remained under investigation.
