Crafters wanted

Raffle winners
LIVERMORE FALLS – George Bunten Post 10, American Legion, Commander Normand Chabot has announced the raffle winners.
First prize of six cords of wood, cut, split and delivered, was won by Patrick Hebert; second prize, four cords, Dave Ferland. The wood was received at a reasonable price from Peter Drown. The drawing took place Sept. 13 at the post bingo.

Worship service
STONEHAM – The Rev. Harvey Lord of South Paris will lead the worship service at the East Stoneham Congregational Church at 10 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 24.
Lord is the son of the late Myron and Hazel Lord of North Waterford. He is a veteran of the World War II, a graduate of the University of Maine and did gratuate studies in theology at Bangor Seminary and the Hartford Seminary in Connecticut.
Lord has served congregational churches in Maine, Connecticut, Michigan and New Hampshire. He and his wife, Muriel, are retired on the farm on the western slopes of Streaked Mountain.
Computer tutoring
PARIS – The Paris Public Library is offering free computer tutoring on a one-on-one basis. Instruction is based on individual needs and skill levels ranging from beginner to more advanced applications.
Topics include Introduction to Computers, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, Navigating the Internet and E-mail Basics. Other topics may be available upon request. WOODSTOCK – The Woodstock Historical Society elected the following officers at the annual meeting: president, Elaine Roberts; vice president, Cornelia Burnham; secretary, Vickie Billings; treasurer, Paul Billings, new trustee, Joyce Howe; board of trustees chairman, Paul Billings; vice chairman, Olive Risko; and curator, Larry Billings. The program was RFD Maine: Keeping Traditions Alive.”
Seniors to meet
DIXFIELD – Neighborly Senior Citizens will meet at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 20, at the American Legion Hall. A potluck dinner will be served at noon. Networking meet
RUMFORD – A community networking meeting, sponsored by the River Valley Healthy Communities Coalition, will be held at noon Tuesday, Sept. 26, in the Community Room of Scrappers DoMaine, Canal Street. Those attending are reminded to bring their own lunch.
Rumford Town Manager Steve Eldridge will discuss progress on the town’s revitalization project. The plan encompasses creating pedestrian zones, cultural growth opportunities, building revitalization, retail commerce opportunities, for technological growth and industrial growth.

MEXICO – The Mexico Historical Society will meet Tuesday, Sept. 26, at the Calvin Lyons Meeting Room at the town hall instead of the society building. The evening will begin with a potluck supper at 5:30 p.m. Guest speaker will be Bill Weston.
The drawing for the quilt, the “Jewel Box,” donated by the Ladies of the Lake, will be held at the meeting.
All ticket stubs and monies must be turned in before the meeting. All are welcome.

Council campaign
DIXFIELD – The Dixfield Economic Development Council “Kiosk Campaign” is still under way.
The structure will be placed on the Village Green. Any business in Dixfield that would like to be included should contact a member of the council or call Norine daytimes at Log Cabin Craftworks, 562-8816, as soon as possible. The one-time fee for a listing is $60, which allows for three lines of type and a numerical reference on the map.
The council welcomes new members and guests at their meetings, which are held at 8 a.m. Thursdays at the town office.
