I have a suggestion for all the big-box department store managers, as well as grocery store managers.
They should ride through their store aisles in one of their complimentary electric carts, or borrow someone’s wheelchair. If they can maneuver around all the aisles without finding themselves trapped by some off-counter or end-counter display, hooray for them. If they fail to get around, then they will know what we, who are for whatever reason unable to walk, face every time we need to go shopping.
If stores are in the process of replacing their freezer sections, they should consider cabinets with sliding doors. Doors that open out permit the electric cart basket in but, alas, not the rider. We have to wait for some kind soul to reach in and serve us, which is not very convenient.
And, finally, for everyone who is able to walk, they should thank God and leave the handicap parking spaces for those of us who can’t. The walkers have a lot more spaces to choose from.
