LIVERMORE FALLS – SAD 36 directors voted to have the board’s Finance Committee fund the remaining amount needed for a scoreboard for the high school field hockey team.
The team has raised about $2,000 from fundraisers. A portable, digital scoreboard that could be run by remote control is estimated to cost between $2,000 and $2,500, team spokesman Rachel Ventrella told directors Thursday.
The girls would also like to leave next year’s team about $700 to start off the year with, she said.
The team, unbeaten this year, is the only one in the Mountain Valley Conference that doesn’t have a scoreboard, she said.
“We’d really like to get it this year,” Ventrella said.
Superintendent Terry Despres said the board could use money from its $35,000 contingency account for the board.
He also said district leaders could probably negotiate a better deal on the board.
