WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Kenneth Irwin Delano, 82, passed away peacefully on Aug. 26 at Columbia Hospital, with his son at his side.
He was born in Oxford, Dec. 18, 1923, son of Harry and Erna (Haskell) Delano. He graduated from Oxford High School in 1941. He married the late Bessie (Swallow) Delano who died in 1993. He enlisted in the Army in 1946, and was honorably discharged from the 437th Fighter Squadron in 1949. He served with the Norway National Guard, honorably discharged in 1959.
He enjoyed painting, golf and being a Mason, initiated Feb. 17, 1953, in the Paris Lodge No. 94, South Paris. He received his fellow craft March 17, 1953; raised to master Mason April 21, 1953. He transferred to Northwood Lodge No. 303, Florida, June 7, 1990; was junior steward Jan. 1, 1996 and chaplin Jan. 1, 1997. Later the Northwood Lodge and the Palm Wood Lodge No. 303 consolidated on May 5, 2000.
He became a 50-year member on April 21, 2003; a perpetual member of the Scottish Rite of Free Masonry S.J. USA in the Valley of Lake Worth Orient of Florida; dual member of the Order of Eastern Star Palm Beach Chapter No. 41, West Palm Beach and Boyton Chapter No. 238 OES.
He is survived by three sons, Kenneth Scott and Mary-Ann, of Staceyville, Wayne (Sandra) of East Andover and Ricky of Nashua, N.H.; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one brother.
He was predeceased by one grandchild.
