PORTLAND – Valerie P. Royer, 47, of Berry Road, Denmark, died Saturday, Sept. 16, at Maine Medical Center after a long illness.
She was born in North Conway, N.H. June 3, 1959, a daughter of Alfred H. and Priscilla Buzzell Barton.
She attended Fryeburg schools, graduating from Fryeburg Academy in 1977, and Husson College in Bangor in 1981. She was employed as a bookkeeper for Texron in Dover, N.H., and then as a bookkeeper in the towns of Fryeburg, Denmark, Brownfield and lastly Bridgton until her death.
She enjoyed playing golf and had a hole-in-one. She was quite a competitor in sports. She loved photography, crossstitch, reading, traveling and fishing. She loved being an auntie and making people smile. She was a postive person, and everyone she touched loved her.
She is survived by her mother, Priscilla Buzzell of West Fryeburg; two stepsons, Jeremy Royer and Matthew Royer, both of Dover, N.H.; two sisters, Victoria Berry and her husband, Adam, of West Fryeburg and Jodie Hesslein and her husband, Gregg, of Brownfield; nieces, Shelby Hesslein of Brownfield and Anna Berry of West Fryeburg; and her longtime companion, Brian Merrill, of Brownfield.
She was predeased by her father, Alfred Barton; and her husband, Randy Royer.
