Turner – A benefit walk will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 23, at the Leavitt Area High School track for a 2004 graduate who was paralyzed in January while skiing at Sunday River.
Monica Quimby began walking again in June with the help of leg braces and a walker. She will lead the walk as long as she can stand on Saturday.
Inspiration for the “dream walk” came from a dream Quimby had and shared with her counselor, Deborah Moran, who organized the event.
“She told me in her dream she got up one morning, put her braces on, and walked outside her house and down the block,” Moran said. “She dreamed that each house she passed, someone came out and walked with her.”
Anyone who wants to walk can do so by showing up Saturday. Pledge forms and information can be obtained from Moran at “Being One” in Lewiston, 783-4161.
