South Paris – Janette I. Pierce, 85, of Norway, died Tuesday, Sept. 19, at Market Square Health Care Center.

She was born in Norway on March 25, 1921, to Myron and Irena “Ramsdell” Farnum.

She was a graduate of Deering High School, and Maine Medical School of Nursing, graduating in 1945. She then went to work for Massachusetts General Hospital, and later moved back to Maine and married Earl Pierce on Dec. 4, 1949. She worked for the Norway Hospital which was located on Deering Street in Norway and worked for Stephens Memorial Hospital for 25 years before retiring at the age of 65.

She was a member of the Oxford Hills Church of Christ.

She is survived by two daughters, Patricia O’Donnell and Deborah and her husband, Robert Cornish; a son, Bruce and his wife, Sherry Pierce; a son-in-law, Joe Roberts; grandchildren, Roger Staley and his wife, Sue, Richard, Star, Scott and Mark O’Donnell, Erica and husband, Denis Champagne and Lorena and husband, Rodney Chapman and Mark, Natalie and Reggie.

She was predeceased by her husband, Earl; a son, Richard O’Donnell; granddaughters, Dorothy Staley and Nicole Pierce; and a stepdaughter, Harriett Roberts.
