TURNER – SAD 52 Adult and Community Education of Greene, Leeds and Turner has a variety of classes beginning in the next couple of weeks, and there is still time to register.

“Fall Yoga”: Based on the Iyegnar yoga method, started Sept. 18 for eight weeks. The experienced yoga and massage practitioner will teach how to strengthen, stretch and tone the body.

Open weight room: The weight room at Leavitt Area High School is open from 7 to 9 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays for persons interested in a regular exercise routine.

“Basic Welding”: An eight-week course started Sept. 19 and will teach the basic fundamentals of arc welding in all positions. Safety procedures will be taught and students will be instructed in proper welding supplies and equipment.

“Quilt Addiction”: The 10-week program began Sept. 19 and will teach how to use the rotary cutter, mat and rulers to make quilts the fast and easy way.

“Small Engine Repair”: The 10-week class will teach how to troubleshoot small engine problem. It started Sept. 20.

“Basic Art”: The course, an introduction to the principles of art design, runs six weeks and started Sept. 20. It is designed to allow students the opportunity to understand how art projects can be integrated into any curriculum. The class will cover the basic concepts and materials of creative photography, drawing, painting, graphic design, illustration, printmaking, sculpture and pottery.

“Beginner French II”: The 10-week class started Sept. 20. It lets participants continue their initiation to the language.

“Intermediate Spanish I”: The 10-week class will commence Thursday, Sept. 21.

“Dried Flower Pocket”: A one-night class on Sept. 21 will show how to create a small pocket that will be filled with dried flowers.

“Young Scientists: Water Rockets”: The two-weeks class starting Saturday, Sept. 23, is for ages 7 through 12 with adult participant required. Participants will make a high-flying water/air powered rocket, launcher and recovery system using recycled materials, a bicycle pump and inner tube.

“Coyne CPR and First Aid”: The three-week course beginning Friday, Sept. 22, will provide the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care for adults, children and infants who are victims of breathing, cardiac, sudden illness or diabetic emergencies. Students will also be able to control bleeding, care for burns, as well as head, neck and back injuries. At the close of the class participants will receive a one-year certification in adult, child and infant CPR and a three-year certification in first aid.

“Personal Money Management”: Learn to plan and control personal finances in an eight-week course commencing Thursday, Sept. 28. Gain the long-term skills needed to buy a house or car, make the best spending decisions for a lifestyle, save for retirement and avoid bankruptcy.
