Raffle winner
LEWISTON – Winner of Bear Creek canoe is Mike Whitney of Farmington. His name was drawn from about 1,000 entries in the joint raffle sponsored by the Moca-Roddy Foundation and the Lewiston-Auburn Optimist Club. Proceeds benefit the M.R.F. scholarship fund and the various youth projects sponsored by the LA Optimist Club.
Library closed
WILTON – The Wilton Free Public Library will be closed the week of Sept. 25 due to bridge construction. The library will reopen on Tuesday, Oct. 3.

Guild supper
CASCO – The Casco Village Ladies Guild and trustees will sponsor the annual soup, stew, chowder and chili supper at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 30. The all-you-can-eat event is a major fundraiser for the CVC renovation fund. The menu will consist of soups, stew, chowders, chili, bread and make-your-own sundae dessert. Tickets are $6 a person. Adult ed classes
PARIS – Oxford Hills Adult Education will hold a course in Microsoft Office on Mondays, starting Sept. 25.
There will also be classes in assertive communication, business planning, backyard composting, scrapbooking, real estate, square dancing and tai chi.
People can join a class to become a Literacy Volunteer or take a course in family caregiving.
Adult Education also has openings in the high school diploma, General Educational Development and college preparation classes. To register, stop in to the Adult Education office at the high school or call 743-8842, press 1.
Chinese auction
PARIS – A Chinese auction will be held Saturday, Sept. 30, at the Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School. Bidding will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m. and the drawing of winners will be at 6:30. The cost for tickets is $2.50 for 10; there also are bonus tickets. There will be more than 200 items, and proceeds will benefit Responsible Pet Care of Oxford Hills. Food and refreshments will be available.
