RUMFORD – Sally A. Child, 73, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, Sept. 19, at her residence on Hancock Street with her family at her side.
She was born in Rumford on July 26, 1933, a daughter of Lorne and Gladys (Buckingham) MacConaghy. She was a graduate of Stephens High School with the class of 1951. She was a professional bartender and had worked in the Rumford area for many years.
She enjoyed her afternoon lunch outings with the Golden Girls, she loved her Sunday night card games at Pauline’s. She also loved following her children and grandchildren’s sporting events.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Cindy Teague and husband, James, of Alton, N.H. and Mrs. Stephanie Palmer and husband, Mark, of Rumford; two sons, John Child and wife, Gina, of Rumford and Steven Child of Rumford; three sisters, Mrs. Viola Whytock and husband, John, of Mexico, Mrs. Joan Pittman and husband, Herbert, of Meriden, Conn. and Mrs. Nancy Ellis and husband, Charles, of Jay; one brother, Robert MacConaghy and wife, Joan, of Syracuse, N.Y.; her lifelong companion, Arnold Warner of Rumford; a daughter-in-law, Sandy Child of Dixfield; 15 grandchildren, Jessica Robbins, Erica Breau, Kevin Gallant, Mindy Jo Lewis, Jamie Blouin, Ryan, Marcus and Travis Palmer, Angelyn, Vanessa, Emily, Andrew and Logan Child, Beth, Jill and Nikki Demers; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a son, Donald B. Child; her mother and father; and a grandson, Craig Langervin.
