AUBURN – Hannaford Supermarket on Spring Street was cleared of customers and employees Friday afternoon after a caller reported there was a bomb in the grocery store.
Dozens of people were herded out to the parking lot after the bomb threat was phoned in at about 12:15 p.m., police said.
Police and fire crews responded and Hannaford managers searched the store. After 20 minutes, the building was deemed safe and customers were allowed back inside. Auburn police Lt. Jason Moen said police are investigating the source of the phoned in threat. No arrests had been made by Friday night.
