PARIS – A Canton woman has pleaded not guilty to five charges of gross sexual assault against a boy in 2004 and 2005.

Jennifer Conant, 35, of 75 Canton Point Road is charged with engaging in a sex act with boy under 14 years old, Assistant District Attorney Richard Beauchesne said.

She was indicted Aug. 9 and summoned to Oxford County Superior Court on Sept. 14 where she entered her plea.

The grand jury charges that the incidents happened in Canton on Nov. 15 and Dec. 1, 2004, and Jan. 30 and March 15, 2005; and in Hartford on July 15, 2005, all when the boy was 12 and 13 years old.

Beauchesne said the earliest trial date would be in December.

Conant is a stay-at-home mom, Maine State Police Detective John Hainey said.

If convicted she could be sent to prison for up to 40 years.

Defense attorney Alan Stone declined to comment on the case this week.
