As a Franco-American who attended the Franco Festivals for many, many years, I want to say this summer of “Festival Franco Fun” was most enjoyable.
The scale was smaller, the location was different, but the spirit and the celebration of this community’s rich Franco heritage was very much alive. There seemed to be slight confusion with having it at the Franco Center and the Colisee, but despite that, I believe almost everyone had a very good time.
I have volunteered at these festivals making crepes for every breakfast for several years. It felt good to be back at the old task with all the familiar faces. Affordable prices, good food, singing (Alouette) and speaking French – I felt right at home. The entertainment was, as always, very good, the seating at the Franco Center most comfortable, the acoustics the best and the dance at the Colisee lots of fun. Unfortunately, there weren’t enough beans, but I was told that more people turned out than expected and that it wouldn’t happen again.
I look forward to next year’s celebration, when I plan to be making crepes with all my fellow volunteers.
C’est si bon the Festival Franco Fun.
