FREEHOLD, N.J. – Gerald R. “Jerry” Henry, 68, of Jackson, N.J., died Thursday, Sept. 21, at CentraState Medical Hospital in Freehold, N.J., after a long battle with cancer.
He was born in Rumford on May 6, 1938, a son of Bernard and Josephine (Fergola) Henry. Jerry was a graduate of Stephens High School, Rumford, and Central Maine Institute. He was also a graduate of Husson College, Bangor.
He served in the U.S. Navy from 1958 to 1963. He was a systems analyst engineer and worked for companies such as Shared Medical Systems in King of Prussia, Pa., McDonnell Douglas in Florham Park, N.J., NYU Downtown Hospital in New York City and IBM.
He was an avid baseball and football fan and followed the Boston Red Sox, the San Francisco Giants and Notre Dame.
He enjoyed woodworking, collecting antique calculators and slide rules.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Annette M. Henry of Jackson, N.J.; a daughter, Monica L. Henry of Framingham, Mass.; a son, Dr. Gerald M. Henry and wife, Emily, of Fuquay-Varina, N.C.; a brother, Frank Henry and wife, Kelly, of Winthrop; an uncle, Tony Fergola and wife, Isabelle, of Mexico; and an aunt, Caroline Gaudet.
