DOVER, N.H. (AP) – Officials are investigating an escape attempt this week at the Strafford County House of Corrections.

They aren’t releasing many details yet, but County Attorney Janice Rundles says three inmates overpowered a corrections officer when their cell door was open Wednesday night, but that other guards immediately subdued them. She said one officer was assaulted, but not injured.

No names have been released.

Rundles would not comment on whether the inmates had outside help.

So far, no charges have been filed.
