BETHEL – A surprise 60th wedding anniversary party was held on July 22 for Harvey and Barbara Sweetser of Bethel at the American Legion Hall in Bethel.

The party was arranged by son, Wendall and daughter-in-law, Robin and son, Tom, along with their aunt, Marylyn King, sister of Mrs. Sweetser. Grandson, Kevin and his wife, Marcey, and granddaughter, Kimberly and her fiancé, Frank Brulotte, assisted with the arrangements. Helping with the hall decorations were great-granddaughters, Mariah and Brooke Sweetser.

A buffet lunch was served, along with an anniversary cake.

Mr. Sweetser and the former Barbara Olson were married on July 20, 1946, in Bethel. They are the parents of two sons, Tom of Bethel and Wendall of Bryant Pond. They have five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, and another is planned to arrive in November, to make seven.

They have been residents of the Bethel area for most of their lives, having worked in the restaurant business for a good number of those years.

Guests attended from Bethel, West Bethel, Bryant Pond, Norway, Newry, Rumford, Mexico, Poland and Derry, N.H.
