AMHERST, Mass. (AP) – Mark Hannon caught two touchdown passes and ran back a punt for another score as Amherst beat Bates 31-6 on Saturday.

Hannon caught scoring passes of 39 and 16 yards from Nick Kehoe and ran a punt back 64 yards all in the first half as Amherst (1-0, 1-0 NESCAC) took a 28-0 halftime lead.

Kehone finished 14 of 23 for 260 yards.

Jamie Walker led Bates (0-1, 0-1) with 48 yards rushing and a touchdown.
