AUBURN – Ann M. Drigotas Fahey, 92, formerly of 35 White St., Lewiston died Monday, Sept. 25, after a long illness at Clover Manor, where she had been a resident since 2004.
She was born in Lewiston on Feb. 28, 1914, one of seven children of Martin and Carusa (Stelmok) Drigotas. She was educated in Lewiston schools.
In 1943, she married Cpl. Thomas J. Fahey after a 3,500 mile train journey from Lewiston to El Paso, Texas, where he was assigned to active duty during World War II. Upon her arrival in Texas, he could not meet her at the train station due to him being hospitalized after having contracted a case of the mumps. The wedding ceremony was postponed by 11 days and Ann and Thomas were finally married on Oct. 22, 1943. He died on Feb. 25, 1978.
She was a homemaker and for many years worked in the family business, Fahey Funeral Home. She and her husband raised one son Thomas J. Fahey Jr. He died on Feb. 18, 1983.
She was a lifetime member of St. Patrick’s Church.
She is survived by one brother, Ed Drigotas of Palm Bay, Fla.; her beloved granddaughter, Kelsie Ann Fahey of Lewiston; several nephews; and a niece.
She was predeceased by her sisters, Sally Pollard, Betty Robinson and Mary Girard; and her brothers, John “Bucky” Drigotas and Frank M. Drigotas Sr.
