PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Joyce Wing Matthews, 74, of Portland, and Clearwater, Fla., died Sept. 21, in Pittsburgh, Pa., where she had been hospitalized since May 26.

She was born in Lewiston May 28, 1932, the daughter of the late Robert E. and Alice Sanborn Wing. She attended Auburn schools and graduated from Edward Little High School. She retired after 22 years as administrative assistant to the economics department at Colby College in Waterville.

She enjoyed golfing, gardening, painting, and spending time with her family and friends in Maine and Florida, as well as traveling with her husband, Dennis.

She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Dennis W. Matthews; one daughter, Susan Matthews Morrell and husband, Timothy and a son, Steven D. Matthews and wife, Ellen, all of Scarborough; four grandchildren, Elizabeth A. Morrell, Matthew P. Morrell, Nolan P. Matthews and Jack D. Matthews; a sister, Glenda Marquis of Sabattus; and two brothers, R. Bickford Wing of Scarborough, and Clearwater, Fla. and David E. Wing of Stockton Springs.
