Tierney of Maine has told the federal agency that there is a clear connection between “deteriorating air conditions in other parts of the country with those of Maine.” If the EPA agrees, he explained, it will be required, under the federal Clean Air Act, to enforce compliance with clean air standards by the industries involved.
