LEWISTON – Evelyn L. Williams, 69, of Lisbon, passed away peacefully on Monday, Sept. 25, at Central Maine Medical Center, with her loving family by her side after a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born in Windsor on Oct. 31, 1936, a daughter of the late Chester E. and Nellie E. (Sturtevant) Gould.

She attended local Windsor schools and graduated from Erskine Academy in South China, Class of 1955. She later married Frederick T. Williams Jr. in Windsor on Nov. 26, 1955.

She went on to work various jobs, working as a bartender for the American Legion Post 158 in Lisbon for many years, Hussey’s General Store, and was a waitress at Monhegan Island, Willie’s Restaurant and Graziano’s. She also worked at Eastland Shoe Shop for many years.

She was a lifetime member of the Raymond J. Lavigne VFW Post 9459 Ladies Auxiliary, a lifetime member and past president of the Lisbon Left Hand Club, and a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Coombs-Mountfort Post 158 of Lisbon.

She greatly enjoyed playing beano, dancing, attending social gatherings and especially enjoyed being with her family and friends. She enjoyed all holidays, especially Halloween as it was her birthday! She was a woman who was selfless; she always put everyone’s needs before her own. She was a very loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She is survived by her daughter, Becky M. Gross and husband, David, of Sabattus; two sons, Brian F. Williams and fiancé, Louise Pomerleau, of Lisbon Falls and Barry C. Williams and wife, Manuella, of New Gloucester; her 13 grandchildren, Lisa, Lori, Kelly, Amy, Dotti-Jo, Sabrina, Brandon, Krissy, Barry Jr., Meagan, Celina, Tanisha, and Clarissa; her nine great-grandchildren, J.D., Haylee, Jordyn, Jase, Kaitlyn, Everett, Stephanie, Alex, and Kelsey; her special “sis,” Linda Starbird; many cousins, nieces and nephews; as well as many dear special friends.

She was predeceased by her parents; her husband on April 17, 1998; her three brothers, Robert, Elwin and Donald Gould; and a granddaughter, Hailey Rose Emery.
