Livermore Falls – Joseph J. Benedetto, 80, a resident of Fayette Road in Livermore Falls, died Tuesday, Sept. 26, at his home after a long illness.
He was born on March 19, 1926, in Chisholm, the son of Ascenzio and Crocifissa (DiGiacomo) Benedetto and attended the schools of Jay. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He married Nancy Crocker in 1956. They divorced in 1990, but remained good friends.
Joe worked for the Maine Central Railroad for 38 years, retiring in 1985. He was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church in Jay and a member of the Maintenance of Ways.
He is survived by two sons, Joseph Benedetto Jr. and his wife, Lori, of Cleveland, Ohio, and John Benedetto of Portsmouth, N.H.; a daughter, Linda Adams and her husband, Mike, of Augusta; a sister, Betty Smith of Norway; a brother, Arthur Benedetto of Jay; three grandchildren, Anthony Benedetto, Kristen Adams and Rebecca Adams; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Albert Benedetto and Querino Benedetto; and five sisters, Margaret “Meta” Frechette, Grace LaPointe, Angela Musto, Jennie Frechette and Philomena Hynds.
