TURNER – The registrar of voters will hold extended hours for new voter registrations during October. The hours are: Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; plus Monday, Oct. 2, from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m; Monday, Oct. 16, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.; and Saturday, Oct. 28 10 a.m. to noon.

The expanded hours will allow residents extra time to complete voter registration applications. Satisfactory proof of identity and residency are required, and in order to qualify as a voter, a person must be a U.S. citizen at least 18 years of age and a resident in the municipality where the application is being presented. Also, a 17-year-old may apply if they will be 18 before the election on Nov. 7.
