AUBURN – Albert W. Dunton, 84, of 10 Berry Ave., Lisbon Falls, died at the Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice on Sept. 28.

He was born on Jan. 31, 1922, in Bingham, a son of Clyde and Margaret Dunton. He attended local schools and graduated from high school in 1940.

He worked for three years in the Bath Shipyard and then entered the U.S. Navy, where he served our country and was stationed in the South Pacific, where he was a pilot and flew until his discharge in Norfolk, Va.

On Jan. 10, 1945, he was married to Beulah E. Pratt and after two years they moved to Lisbon Falls and started a business on Main Street of jewelry and clocks for a few years and then moved to Scribner’s Store. He also purchased another department store in town with his wife and they worked there together until it sold.

He enjoyed his membership in the order of the Masons, Eastern Star, Lobster Club and the American Legion. He also hunted for deer in his earlier years and fished with his friends; and has been a member of the Lisbon Falls Baptist Church for many years.

He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Beulah; a brother, Roger Dunton, of Union, S.C.; four sisters, Jeanette Beaton of Bangor, Madelyn Linscott of Winthrop, Roberta Meserve of Jay and Mary Child of Brunswick; as well as nieces, nephews; and many friends.

He was predeceased by his son, Douglas P. Dunton in 1980; and a brother, Stuart Dunton.
