I think it is time Republican leadership responded to the outrageous commercial now airing from the Maine Democratic Party about Chandler Woodcock. The public deserves the truth. It is a wonderful concept.

How about this truth: The people of Maine twice voted down a bill to change Maine’s discrimination law. Maine Democrats and the governor ignored those votes and passed the law changing Maine’s discrimination law.

It is very likely voters will be asked to vote on legalizing gay marriage during the governor’s next term. If the people of Maine vote against gay marriage, will the Democrats and the governor (if re-elected) ignore the will of the people again and pass a law recognizing gay marriages? In Massachusetts, children in elementary school are being taught to accept gay marriage.

Maine people deserve to know where they are heading and to what children would be subjected if Gov. John Baldacci is re-elected. The people of Maine do deserve the truth.
