SOMERVILLE, Mass. – Matt Russo hooked up with David Halas for a pair of touchdown passes to lead Tufts to its 21st straight win over Bates, 21-12 on Saturday.

After Bates took a 9-0 lead, Matt Gaylord scored on a 2-yard run and Russo tossed a 5-yard TD pass to Halas in the second quarter to put Tufts (2-0, 2-0 NESCAC) on top for good.

Russo threw a 21-yard TD pass to Halas in the fourth.

Bates (0-2, 0-2) was led by Brandon Colon, who completed 17 of 39 passes for 179 yards and a touchdown.

Maine Maritime 14, Westfield St. 11

WESTFIELD, Mass. – Brandon Hamilton ran for 128 yards and a touchdown to lift Maine Maritime to a 14-11 win over Westfield State.

Jim Bower added 100 yrads rushing and a touchdown for Maine Maritime (2-2, 1-1 NEFC Bogan). Dan Cohen completed 18 of 34 passes for 201 yards and a touchdown to lead Westfield State (0-4, 0-2).

Middlebury 24, Colby 0

WATERVILLE – Stefan Hrdina rushed for two touchdowns Saturday as Middlebury defeated Colby 24-0 in the New England Small College Athletic Conference.

Middlebury brought its record to 2-0 for the first time since 1997, while Colby fell to 0-2.

Hrdina carried 27 times and gained 94 yards while Middlebury quarterback Tiger Lyon had 84 yards passing and one touchdown.

Colby was held to 145 yards of total offense. Justin Smith threw for 132 yards for Colby.

Amherst 20, Bowdoin 7

BRUNSWICK – Aaron Rauh ran for two touchdowns as Amherst defeated Bowdoin on Saturday 20-7.

Racking up 400 yards of total offense, Amherst scored 10 points in the fourth quarter to seal the win. Nick Kehoe was 19-30 for 210 yards passing for the Jeffs, while Mark Hannon caught eight balls for 93 yards.

Amherst (2-0) had 191 rushing yards, led by 65 from Eric NeSmith. Bowdoin (0-2) was led by Ian Merry with five catches for 83 yards, while Tom Duffy completed 13-of-31 passes for 143 yards.

Mount Ida 13, Husson 12

NEWTON, Mass. – Antwan Harris’ 31-yard touchdown run in the final three minutes lifted Mount Ida to a 13-12 win over Husson Saturday.

Husson (3-2) took the lead with 6:11 to go in the fourth when Andre Wildman ran in an 18-yard score, but Mount Ida (3-2) quickly answered when Harris (120 yards rushing) scored. Bryan Ferguson, who had a 4-yard touchdown run, led the Eagles with 108 yards rushing while Jeremy Shorey caught four balls for 66 yards. David Chase was 14-of-19 in the air with 165 yards.
