AUBURN – Irene D. Kennedy, 74, of Lisbon Falls, died on Friday, Sept. 29, at the Hospice House surrounded by her family.
Irene was born in Wayne on Jan. 20, 1932, the daughter of Raymond and Arlene (Rose) Martin.
She was married in Jan. 1953, to Fredrick R. Kennedy at the Methodist Church in South Portland.
She worked for several years at Fairchild Semiconductor in South Portland as a chip fabricator, as well as in several nursing homes, finally retiring in 1994, after 10 years working for CMMC’s housekeeping department.
She enjoyed listening to country music, and was a huge Elvis fan. She also loved the beach, swimming, reading Stephen King novels, doing word search, and especially, spending time with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and other family, as well as PeeDee, her daughter’s pug.
She was predeceased by her husband in 1980, as well as her parents.
She is survived by her children, Althea L. Kennedy-Ecker, and her husband, Jonathan Ecker, of Lisbon Falls, Fredrick R. Kennedy Jr of Portland, Theodore W. Kennedy and his companion, Sheryl Fournier, of Auburn, Timothy A. Kennedy and his wife, Kelly Smith, of Brunswick, and John T. Kennedy of Sanford; siblings, Charlie Martin and his wife, Judy, Glennace Conant and her husband, Bernie, Eleanor Hutchinson and her husband, Hazen, Gloria Pepin and her companion, Edward Bent, and Jerry Martin and his companion, Arlene; grandchildren; Sean Bartshe of Lewiston, Michael Bartshe and his wife, Tonya, of Auburn, Joe Kennedy and his wife, Cindy, of Auburn, Lauren Kennedy of Brunswick, Olivia Treadwell of Sanford, Jessica Kennedy of Augusta, and Amber Ecker of Stratford, Conn.; great-grandchildren, Shaine and Seanna Morris, Tiahna and Joe Kennedy Jr, Nathan Bartshe, and Christopher Delashmit; and great-great-granddaughter, Shauntee Johnson. She will also be sadly missed by many nieces and nephews.
She will also be fondly remembered and missed by her former companion, Normand Fournier of Tucson, Arizona.
