AUBURN – Phyllis C. Griffin, 85, of Lisbon Falls, passed away peacefully on Oct. 1, at Hospice House.

She was born in Lisbon Falls on Dec. 26, 1920, the daughter of Francis H. and Anna (Schutt) Christopher.

She graduated from Lisbon Falls High School in 1938, and Farmington State Teachers College in 1942, with a B. S. degree in home economics.

She taught home economics at Porter Academy, Douglas Hill, and Lisbon High School for seven years.

During World War II, she worked at Brunswick Naval Air Station, where she met her husband, Ezra (Bud) Skolfield. They were wed in 1944.

Together they raised two sons, Daniel and Jeffrey. They also enjoyed showing horses with her sister, Shirley.

After Bud died in 1963, she went on to work at Farnsworth Mill in the payroll department, then to Geiger Bros. as administrative assistant to Frank Geiger, then on to RCA in Lewiston in the purchasing department.

Finally, she went to work for Maine Electronics until her retirement in 1985.

She married James G. Griffin in 1967. They and their families spent many weekends skiing, swimming and fishing at their camp on Little Wilson Pond.

Later in life she began her own business, Wreath Creations, specializing in pine cones and sea shell wreaths.

Her favorite pastime in later years was playing Beano with her friends. She was a devoted and loving mother, and her family was always first and foremost in her heart.

She is survived by her sons, Daniel B. Skolfield, and wife, Sharon, and Jeffrey M. Skolfield and wife, Beth, of Lisbon Falls; grandchildren, Heather of Lewiston, William of Hilo, Hawaii, Melissa of Richmond, and Hollie and Katie of Lisbon Falls; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Shirley Christopher Ricker, and husband, Wayne, of Lisbon; and five nieces.

She was predeceased by her two husbands.
