JAY – Police arrested a Jay man Thursday who is accused of making statements against a Christian school in Wilton.
Ricky Merchant, 46, of 163 Macomber Hill Road in North Jay was arrested on a Wilton warrant charging misdemeanor terrorizing, police Chief Larry White Sr. said.
Wilton police Chief Wayne Gallant had advised Jay police of Merchant allegedly making threats against Western Maine Christian Academy in Wilton, White said.
Those statements were made Monday while Merchant was under the influence, the Jay chief added.
Jay police investigated the incident, which led to some concerns and prompted Gallant to seek the warrant, White said.
White and Jay police officers Cpl. Jeffrey Fournier, Richard Caton IV, Maurice Drouin and Steve Smith went to Merchant’s home and arrested him without incident, White said.
Merchant was taken to Franklin County jail in Farmington. He was being held on $3,000 unsecured bail Thursday night.
