Why not vote for the Taxpayer Bill of Rights and see if it works or not? Like anything new, there may be a few bugs to be worked out. The system we have now is failing miserably and we need a change.

We are being taxed to death to support a carte blanche attitude of spending by state and local governments. Our government is paying corporate welfare to many developers, leaving us stuck with the bill; paying for people to tell us fast food is unhealthy; paying for programs within the welfare system that a working person does not have access to. The list goes on and on.

We now have a chance for change through TABOR. The change may be imperfect or flawed, but we need to send this message to government that enough is enough. They need to better prioritize their spending, as we do. We cannot afford to pay for all the feel-good programs, or programs that benefit only certain small special-interest groups. It seems the good of the many has given way to the good of the few.

So again, let’s try TABOR and see what happens. One thing is sure – much wasteful spending will end. Perhaps then we really can see what we want to pay for and what we don’t. I personally think we have nothing to lose at this point in time. And perhaps everything to gain.
