PORTLAND (AP) – Tim Brent scored two goals, pacing the Portland Pirates to a 7-2 win over the Providence Bruins on Saturday.

The Pirates capitalized on three of six power play chances, while the Bruins scored both goals with the man advantage.

Portland grabbed a 3-0 lead before the midpoint of the first period on goals by Zenon Konopka, Brent and Brian Salcido. Petr Kalus put Providence on the scoreboard at 14:09 of the first.

The teams traded goals in the second period; Brent scored at 12:25 and Pascal Pelletier answered at 17:04.

The Pirates iced the game in the third period, getting goals from Shawn Thornton at 6:17, Ryan Carter at 14:30 and Drew Miller at 18:53.

Portland goalie Mike Wall stopped 22 shots while Providence’s Brian Finley took the loss.
