BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) – The campaign staff of Republican U.S. House candidate Martha Rainville is continuing to rewrite sections of their Web site that was found to have contained policy statements copied from other politicians. Staffers found statements that went beyond three instances discovered by a Westminster women last week, said spokesman Brendan McKenna. “We did find other instances in which material could have been cut and pasted,” said McKenna.

A campaign staffer resigned on Monday after admitting he used the wording written by other campaigns on a number of policy issues, including energy, health care and the federal budget. The campaign intended to remove the items from the Web site.

They were still accessible early Friday, but they were deleted by the end of the day.

McKenna said campaign’s Web manager worked part-time so it was taking longer than expected to rebuild the site.

“It’s because of the high standard,” he said. “We don’t want this issue to again distract us from talking about the issues.”
