George Will and Kate Gawler of the Family Planning Association of Maine (Oct. 1) attempted to reassure people that women are almost never pressured into abortion based on statistics from the Alan Guttmacher Institute. But the AGI is the research arm of Planned Parenthood, the world’s largest abortion provider. Planned Parenthood makes tens of millions of dollars selling abortions in the U.S. every year.
On the other hand, there are groups formed to help post-abortive women, such as the Elliot Institute, Rachel’s Vineyard and Project Rachel, and groups formed by post-abortive women such as Silent No More and Women Exploited by Abortion telling us that many women are pressured into abortion and many do suffer for it afterwards.
Which is the more credible source of information?
For many years the tobacco companies denied that cigarette smoking was harmful, but patients lying in hospital beds had a different story to tell.
