Veterans remembered in annual ceremony
PARIS – The Maine Veteran’s Home held its annual POW/MIA program recently.
The welcome was given by Pat Young, administrator followed by the posting of colors by the WMVAC Color Guard.
Joseph Cooney led the pledge of allegiance followed by invocation given by the Rev. Melvin Young, chaplain. Presentation of symbolic tributes were offered by Gil Turner, Pat Young, Pat Paar and Joan Hebert.
Joseph Cooney, WMVAC chairman, set the POW/MIA table. Guest speaker was Dane Tripp, school resource officer for SAD 55. Tripp spoke on how the POW/MIA program got started many years ago. He also mentioned how many veterans are still missing in many other parts of the world.
Reading of names POW-MIA, Phil Meserve, committee treasurer, read the names of those missing and Young gave the closing prayer.
