NORWAY – Arlene Farwell, 84, of Norway, died peacefully, Tuesday, Oct. 10.

She was born March 11, 1922, one of 10 children of Frank and Eva (Briggs) Drake, and was raised on their farm in Canton. She married Willard Porter Farwell in Woodstock on May 26, 1940. He died in 1988.

She will be remembered by many for the mittens, hats and sweaters she happily knit for them and for always encouraging others to “smile.”

She is survived by two sons, Richard of Greenfield, Mass. and Louville of South Paris; one daughter, Joyce, and her husband, Jerry, of Waterville; her daughter-in-law, Joy of Dixfield; four grandsons; several great-grandchildren; four of her siblings, Rosella Walker, Conrad Dan, Terry Bennett and Nancy Winslow; and her sister-in-law, Deborah Eldredge.

She was predeceased by two of her five children, David (in infancy) and Willard Porter Jr.

We would like to sincerely thank the nurses and the staff members at Norway Rehab and Living Center for the kind care given Arlene and for welcoming Jennie (Arlene’s favorite dog) each week.
