PORTLAND (AP) – A Falcon jet joined a Coast Guard cutter and other rescue vessels before a search was suspended Wednesday for a 55-year-old man who was last seen Monday in his pleasure boat in Portland Harbor, the Coast Guard said.

The Coast Guard was looking for Robert Gilsey, who was last seen leaving Portland around 5:30 p.m. Monday in his boat, Ripple. He was bound for his home on Great Diamond Island in Casco Bay, but he never arrived.

Gilsey’s 23-foot power boat was found adrift around noon Tuesday east of Cape Elizabeth. The keys were in the ignition and the throttle was open, but the boat was out of gasoline and Gilsey was not aboard, said Coast Guard Ensign Ben Crowell.

A Coast Guard cutter, along with vessels from the Maine Marine Patrol and local rescue agencies, searched through Tuesday night and the Falcon jet joined the search Wednesday morning. The Coast Guard suspended the search at 12:16 p.m. Wednesday.
