I don’t usually endorse political candidates, but I am speaking this year for Roy Gedat’s candidacy for the Maine Legislature.
I met him through our work on the Norway Summer Festival, in which he’s been active and enthusiastic. He’s worked for years to build Norway’s economy, an important effort for all. Incumbent Rep. Sawin Millett has served honorably; we now need representatives more connected to our economic growth efforts and our economic centers in Norway and South Paris.
I appreciated Sen. Richard Bennett’s legislative efforts, and see a similar spirit in Gedat. Despite being a Republican in a non-Republican administration, Bennett effected change and developed relationships with legislators and the administration, regardless of party.
The area continues to benefit from Bennett’s efforts. I expect Gedat would enter the legislature with similar goals, communicate and respond to constituents, and work hard to advance the interests of our towns and people.
