NEW GLOUCESTER – Marcel A. Doyon, 83, of 2 Upland Road., Lisbon, died early Monday, Oct. 9, with his family by his side.

He was born in Auburn on Jan. 16, 1923, the son of Ernest and Josephine (Demers) Doyon. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, and was a recipient of the Silver Star. On Jan. 13, 1945, he married the former Cecile J. Quirion, who died May 15, 1992.

He most recently worked for Peter Allen Lumber and prior to working there, he was the owner of the Airport Store and Auburn Fuel for many years.

His memberships included; Frank W. Hulett VFW Post, American Post 153 of New Auburn, life-member of the Lunn Hunnewell American Veterans Post 6 of New Gloucester.

He is survived by his wife of Lisbon, the former Marie Roy Veilleux, whom he married July 19, 1993; two daughters, Lucille, and her husband, Armand Mercier, of New Gloucester, Jeannette, and her husband, John Lasso, of Augusta; one son, Armand, and his wife, Gloria Doyon, of Coconut Creek, Fla.; two stepdaughters, Odette Veilleux of Lisbon, Diane, and her husband, David Conroy, of Watertown, Mass.; two stepsons, Gil, and his wife, Claire Veilleux, of Lisbon, Roger, and his wife, Carol Veilleux, of Lisbon; three brothers, Rene, and his wife, Doriane Doyon, of Lewiston, Roger, and his wife, Georgette Doyon, of Auburn and George Doyon of Lewiston; one sister-in-law, Germaine Doyon of Lewiston; 18 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by two sisters and their spouses, Henriette and Jean Paul Poulin and Jeanne and Armand Michaud; and one brother, Albert Doyon.

The Doyon family would like to thank Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice for the wonderful care they extended to Marcel during his illness.
