DURHAM – Three people were injured, none seriously, and one driver had to be extricated from his vehicle in a two-car head-on crash on Route 136 Thursday morning.
Androscoggin Deputy Sheriff Randy Williams identified the injured as Mohamud Bashier, 46, of Lewiston and his passenger, Ahmed Hussein, 71, of Auburn, and Aniceto Sanchez, 31, of Lewiston. All were transported by ambulance to CMMC where they were treated and released.
According to Williams, Bashier lost control of his auto on the wet pavement and went on to the edge of the road near the guardrails by the Androscoggin River, swerved to the left, over corrected and went into the oncoming lane, colliding head on with Sanchez’s car.
Sanchez was trapped in his car for a time due to the damage to the front end. Auburn rescue assisted Durham rescue with the extrication. Also responding to the scene were ambulances from Lisbon Emergency and Freeport Rescue.
Sanchez’s 1997 Oldsmobile was demolished and damage was set at $5,500 to Bashier’s 1992 Ford Wagon in the 7:05 a.m. mishap.
