New schedule

RUMFORD – American Legion Post 24, Congress Street, has a new fall schedule: Thursday and Friday hours have been extended until 9 p.m.

Pancake breakfast

RUMFORD – During Oktoberfest a pancake breakfast will be served from 8 to 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, at the Oxford County Arc. (former Armory). For $5 the Rotary will serve pancakes, sausage, juice and coffee.

Oktoberfest is a celebration of fall crafts, books, kids’ games and food at the Oxford County Arc. Proceeds will benefit local charities and Rotary scholarships for local young adults going to college.

At the breakfast held at Black Mountain in conjunction with the Fitness and Fun Fair, Rotarians Eddie Paterson, Jane Bubar, Angela Roberts and Joe Roberts helped cook pancakes.

Scout bake sale

MEXICO – Boy Scout Troop 580 will hold a bake sale and car wash from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, at Wal-Mart, Route 2. Proceeds will go for troop activities and a tent fund. For more information, call Dick Welch at 364-2548 or Richie Philbrick at 364-8297.

Extension meeting

PERU – Extension Homemakers will meet at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, at the Elementary School. Members should bring items for the raffle basket and be prepared to pay yearly dues. A workshop will be conducted for the holiday bazaar. Members should bring a bag lunch.

Yard sale

BETHEL – The Greenstock Snowsports Snowmobile Club will hold its fourth annual yard sale from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, in the parking lot of Lowell’s Saw Shop, Route 26, across the street from Telstar Regional High School.

Afternoon speaker

MEXICO – The Oxford County Education Association-Retired will meet Friday, Oct. 20, at the Mexico Congregational Church. The social period will begin at 10:30 a.m. and the business meeting will be at 11.

The afternoon speaker will be Sandra Crehore, president of MEA-R.

The scholarship fundraiser will be an apple pie sale to members and the public. Call a local OCEA-R member to reserve a pie.
