HORNELL, N.Y. – Mary Violet Hibler, 91, of Maple Court, Hornell, N.Y., passed away Wednesday, Oct. 11, at McAuley Manor.
She was born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, Jan. 24, 1915, the daughter of Samuel and Mary Allan Chestnut, she had resided in Hornell since 1996. Before moving to Hornell, she had resided in Johnson City, N.Y., West Paris and Lakeland, Fla.
On Aug. 28, 1935, she married Edward C. Hibler, who predeceased her in 1994. She had been a cook at the Chapel Valley Nursing Home in West Paris for many years. She was well-known for her handiwork and also her pies and cookies.
She is survived by her sister, Agnes (William) Chanecka of Binghamton, N.Y.; three daughters, Virginia (Nelson) Chamberlin of Hornell, N.Y., with whom she had made her home for the last nine years, Georgia (Douglas) Hull of Orlando and Jean (Richard) Glover of Montrose, Pa.; grandchildren, Charles (Michelle) and Brian (Michele) Chamberlin, Richard (Carol) and Stephen (Christy) Hull, Jason Glover, Debra (Scott) Stonier and Barb (Martin) Darrow, Dawn Canfield and Richard (Patty) Glover Jr.; 18 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also predeceased by her parents; and a brother, John Chestnut.
