JONESPORT – David D. Wilcox Sr., 72, passed away Oct. 12, at his residence after an extended illness.

He was born Feb. 11, 1934, in Orange, N.J., the son of the late Louis V. Wilcox Sr. and Margaret (deZouche) Wilcox.

He was an avid gardner. He was an avid Civil War buff. He spent several years serving on the Oxford Hills SAD 17 School Board and played an active role in the development and completion of the Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School and athletic field complex, as well as being instrumental in the selection of art for the Maine Percent for Art Program.

He is survived by his children, Cheryl Keith of Goose Creek, S.C., David deZ. Wilcox Jr., and wife, JoLynn, of Jackson Hole, Wyo. and Kerri Wilcox of South Paris; brother, Louis V. Wilcox Jr.; and grandchildren, Jeremy Wilcox, Jessica Wilcox, Caitlin Keith and Martin Wilcox.
