I can stay silent no more. I’ve had enough of Kalle Oakes. A few years ago, an Edward Little football game was canceled due to poor weather and field conditions. Oakes called everyone involved in that decision a sissy. Football was to be played at any cost, even at the amateur level.

Former Edward Little athletic director John White wrote a brilliant rebuttal citing common sense, such as student athlete safety and taxpayer funds to repair a destroyed field, etc., as reasons for the decision. It was then my disrespect of Oakes began, and he has caused my blood to boil on many occasions since.

His recent attempt at inflicting his opinion on the community concerning the hockey game has many fans irate. The photographer’s pictures failed miserably at capturing the crowd’s displeasure in the horrible display on the ice. It looked to me the community had no difficulty sorting right from wrong.

Parents are capable of teaching their own right from wrong. If they don’t like the product, they need not attend. On Friday, I saw most of the 3,000-plus people have a different take on the product than Oakes.

Oakes is nothing more than a critic paid to critique. He has done a reprehensible disservice to would-be fans that now may not attend after reading his opinion.

If you don’t like the product, Mr. Oakes, please do us a favor: stay away, and leave the parenting advice column to Dear Abby and Dr. Phil.
