AUBURN – Robert R. Labbe, 79, a resident of 1328 Sabattus St., Lewiston, died Friday, Oct. 13, at the Androscoggin Hospice House, surrounded by his family, after a long illness.
He was born in Lewiston, April 21, 1927, the son of Theophile and Sara Labbe. He attended local schools and was a graduate of St. Dominic High School. He was an Army veteran of World War II and worked in the local textile industry until his retirement.
He was a a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 106 as well as the Fourth Degree Wallace Assembly. He was also a member of the American Legion in Auburn. He was an avid Red Sox fan, who also enjoyed camping.
Survivors include his wife, Jeanne d’Arc Labbe of Lewiston; two daughters, Constance Haas of Lewiston and Diane Savard, and her husband, Gary, of Lewiston; four stepsons, Roger LaRoche of Lewiston, Eugene LaRoche, and his wife, Cindy, of Hebron and Ronald and Michael LaRoche, both of Lewiston; one stepdaughter, Cecile Paradis, and her husband, Roger, of Lewiston; one brother, Romeo Labbe, and his wife, Theresa, of Cheshire, Conn.; one sister, Jeanne Labbe of Litchfield; three grandchildren; eight stepgrandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one stepgreat-grandchild.
He was predeceased by his first wife, the former Priscilla Gagnon earlier this year.
The Labbe family would also like to thank the Androscoggin Hospice House for the wonderful care extended to Robert during his illness.
