Just a couple of remarks about the article written by Kalle Oakes in the Oct. 7 Sun Journal.

How could this person’s lack of understanding of the game of hockey at this level have made the front page of any paper? It’s quite possible that Oakes has seen many hockey games, but somehow mini-mites up to college hockey is a much different game. This is a tough league where you have the enforcers who accept this position very gladly. I, for one, do not advocate fighting any more than anyone else who goes to these games.

As for the game in question, I didn’t see any beer spilled. Then again, I think this person – notice I didn’t call you a reporter – would serve the public much better if you covered figure skating and track. Less chance of a fight breaking out.

I have been watching the pros play for a long time, and guess what: Hockey is what it is! If you think the game is too rough, maybe you should stay home and watch a good Three Stooges movie instead of learning about the game at this late stage of your life.
