WASHINGTON – On Aug. 14, the National Lumber and Building Material Dealers Association presented Hammond Lumber Co. in Fairfield with the second annual National Achievement in Safety Award for achievement in overall workplace safety.

In 2005, Hammond Lumber Co. had outstanding safety rates in the following areas: employee injuries and illnesses, employee days away from work, restricted work activity and job transfer due to injury or illness.

The company also demonstrated it maintains several safety practices that improve overall workplace safety, resulting in no fatalities or OSHA citations.
